Holy Spirit sixth graders present Living Stations of the Cross
The sixth grade religion class reenacted the final hours of Jesus’ Passion in a Lenten devotion that filled the church.
Pequannock, NJ — February 27. Holy Spirit Church was filled with prayerful silence and reflection on Friday evening as the sixth grade religion class of Holy Spirit School presented the Living Stations of the Cross at 7:00 PM.
Under the direction of Sr. Diana Yodris, the students reenacted the final hours of Jesus’ Passion in a moving Lenten devotion that drew families, parishioners, faculty, and clergy together in worship. The presentation transformed the sanctuary into a sacred journey, inviting all in attendance to walk spiritually alongside Christ.
Dressed in biblical attire, the sixth graders portrayed key figures from the Passion narrative, including Jesus, Mary, Veronica, Simon of Cyrene, and Roman soldiers. Each Station was carefully staged and prayerfully narrated, allowing the congregation to meditate on Christ’s suffering and sacrifice.
One of the most powerful moments of the evening came during the depiction of Veronica wiping the face of Jesus. As she lifted a cloth bearing His image, the church remained in profound silence, capturing the compassion and courage of the moment. Equally moving was the scene of Jesus falling beneath the weight of the cross, powerfully conveying both physical exhaustion and steadfast resolve.
The students’ expressions reflected deep understanding — solemn, compassionate, and reverent throughout. Their ability to portray sorrow, endurance, and faith demonstrated weeks of thoughtful preparation.
