Holy Spirit School is a school of Holy Spirit Parish, and the church is next door — 318 Newark‑Pompton Turnpike, a short walk from our front door at 330. Our students go over for the school Mass every Friday at 8:30 AM and for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on Tuesday morning. Parents and grandparents are welcome in the pews at both.

Nothing on this page is a special event. It is the ordinary shape of a week at Holy Spirit School, from PreK–3 through Grade 8, in the church your family already kneels in on Sunday.
The school is at 330 Newark Pompton Turnpike. The church is at 318. Our students walk; no buses, no permission slips.

Every Friday at 8:30 the school walks next door and takes its place. Students carry the cross, read the Scriptures, lead the responses and sing. They learn the prayers by praying them, every week, not once a term.
Students train to serve at the altar and then serve at the school Mass and at parish Masses on the weekend, alongside servers from the parish.
Classes take the readings and the petitions in rotation. Our choir leads the singing — the same choir that took second place at the High Notes Festival in Allentown.
No notice needed. Park at the school, walk over, and sit wherever you like. Grandparents are in the pews most Fridays, and prospective families are welcome too.
Fr. Cesar offers the school Mass on Fridays, hears the children’s first Confessions, and oversees their preparation for the Sacraments alongside the parish.
Half an hour on a Tuesday morning, in front of the Blessed Sacrament.
The parish exposes the Blessed Sacrament every Tuesday from 9:00 to 9:30 AM, and on the First Saturday of the month from 8:00 to 9:00 AM. Our classes take their turn in the church during the Tuesday holy half hour: a hymn, a short reading, and then silence.
Sitting still and quiet is a skill, and it is taught here the way reading is taught — a little at a time, with the youngest children staying the shortest while and the eighth graders staying to the end.

Preparation happens in religion class and runs through Holy Spirit Parish, so the retreat, the rehearsal and the day itself all take place in the church next door. Families registered at another parish are welcome; tell the office and we will coordinate with your pastor.
First Reconciliation & First Eucharist
Grade 2A parent meeting in the autumn, First Reconciliation in December, the Jesus Day retreat in the spring, then First Holy Communion in May.
Confirmation
Grades 7 & 8Two years, beginning with orientation in Grade 7 and the Diocesan Youth Day at Saint Elizabeth’s University, and ending with the Confirmation Mass in Grade 8.
Registering your child
Each autumnParents of students in Grade 2, Grade 7 and Grade 8 register through the parish. One form covers all of your children.
The fee covers the Jesus Day retreat, the Diocesan Youth Day, the Confirmation retreat, preparation materials and a photographer for the ceremonies.
Sacramental registration →Exact dates for 2026–2027 are published with the registration form in September. Certificates and records go to Ellen Camiolo at the school or parish office — drop them off or email a scan.

Our eighth graders close their nine years here on retreat with the Bishop of Paterson. They are Confirmed in May and they leave having been asked, by name, where they are going.
Many of them come back — to serve at the altar on a Sunday, to play in the gym, to read at their younger sister’s First Communion.
Daily Mass at Holy Spirit Church, 8:30 every weekday morning.
Our families are parish families. The daily Mass is before the school bell, so a parent can drop a child at 8:00 and be in the church by 8:30.
