Inclement weather procedures

In case of inclement weather, Holy Spirit School usually follows Pequannock Township regarding closures, delayed openings and early dismissals. But there may be an occasion from time to time when we close and Pequannock does not.

How you will be told

• Channel 12 includes us in their announcements.
• An alert appears at the top of the school website home page.
• We post the information on social media — follow @hsspeq.
• An automated alert system notifies all families and staff according to your alert set-up. If you have not set up your contacts with the Access ID and password issued to you, please do so — and check or update them any time.

Delayed openings

If there is a delayed opening, school opens at 10:00 AM and there is no morning child care.

For bus children, if the sending or receiving town has a delayed opening or closure, the bus companies follow them. If Holy Spirit is closed or delayed and the sending and receiving towns are not, the bus company follows Holy Spirit.

Lincoln Park and Pequannock / Pompton Plains bus children: the delayed pick-up time is two hours from the original pick-up time. If Lincoln Park does not have school, there is no bus for that town. If Pequannock does not have school, we are also closed.

Early dismissals

If there is an early dismissal, an alert is issued asking you to collect your child, and afternoon child care is cancelled. If you are in doubt, call the school.

For children who would take the bus home that day, a parent receives a call asking whether they want their child put on the bus, so you know roughly when the bus will collect and when your child should arrive at the stop. If we cannot speak to a parent personally, the child will not be put on the bus and will remain at school to be collected.

Whenever you change address or phone number, notify the office and update your alert information as soon as possible so our records stay accurate.
