Uniforms & dress code

Unless otherwise notified, all students are in uniform from the first day of school to the last. The list below is the whole policy.

Your school uniform signifies that you are a member of the Holy Spirit community and confirms your attendance at the school. The uniform reduces non-academic distractions and minimises the difference in socioeconomic status between peers.

It is important that you take pride in your appearance by wearing your complete uniform and always representing Holy Spirit School with honour, both within the school and out in the community.

Boys

  • Maroon polo shirt, short or long sleeve, with embroidered Holy Spirit. Maroon turtleneck optional, 1 November – 15 April.
  • Gray uniform trousers; gray uniform shorts September–October and 16 April–June.
  • V-neck cardigan or pullover sweater with embroidered Holy Spirit.
  • Holy Spirit sweatshirts and hoodies (basketball, Performing Arts) are only to be worn in the classroom on gym or tag days.
  • All black uniform shoes. Sneaker-type shoes are acceptable if all black — no coloured or white stripes, soles, laces or added details. No Crocs, Uggs, slippers, boots, flip-flops or slides.
  • Hair must not touch the top of the shirt collar or go below the eyebrows. Ponytails, mohawks and buns are not permitted.
  • No earrings.

Girls

  • Grades K–3: plaid belted tunic with white Peter Pan collared blouse, maroon polo shirt, or maroon turtleneck.
  • Grades 4–8: plaid wrap-around kilt with maroon polo shirt, short or long sleeve, or maroon turtleneck. Skirts must be no shorter than 3 inches above the knee.
  • V-neck cardigan or pullover sweater with embroidered Holy Spirit.
  • Holy Spirit sweatshirts and hoodies are only to be worn in the classroom on gym or tag days.
  • Uniform trousers 1 November – 15 April, or uniform skort or shorts September–October and 16 April–June.
  • Socks or tights must be maroon, gray or white. No leggings.
  • All black uniform shoes, same rules as above. No Crocs, Uggs, slippers, boots, flip-flops or slides.
  • No makeup. No dangling earrings. Only clear nail polish, including on fake or press-on nails.
  • Hair accessories must be in school colours.
