Welcome back — morning and dismissal procedures
Arrival, drop-off, dismissal and walker procedures for the school year.
Morning. Students should arrive before 8:00 AM and will meet their teacher and line up ready to enter the school at 8:00 AM. Students must not be left unattended before 7:45 AM on the playground or gated parking lot — if they arrive earlier they should be dropped at Before Care at the main entrance facing the parking lot. Any student arriving after the 8:10 late bell must be signed in at the main door by the adult who dropped them off.
Please do not pull up on Newark Pompton Turnpike to drop off. The parking lot behind the church is for drop off and pick up, and no parents should park or drop off on the residential side of New Street. Pets are not allowed on school property before, during or after school.
Dismissal. Teachers bring students out to the same area where they lined up in the morning, and must see who the student is leaving with. If someone is not familiar to the teacher they will ask for ID. If you are sending someone who is not a parent, guardian, or on the dismissal form, send a note or email to the teacher in advance.
If a child is staying for extra help or a club, the teacher in charge brings them to the main door at the end of that activity; if the parent is not there, the child goes to After Care. Walkers and bikers should be indicated on the dismissal form. Students riding bikes, scooters or e-bikes must wear a helmet to and from school.
In all cases and at all times, everyone must exercise caution in the parking lot and on the roads surrounding the school. The safety of the children should be everyone’s first priority.
